Seoul or Busan for Skin Treatments? A Guide for Foreigners

JRYN Seomyeon Dermatology Team • October 5, 2026

Quick answer: Both Seoul and Busan offer the same core Korean skin treatments, including lasers, skin boosters, Ultherapy and thread lifts. Seoul (especially Gangnam) has the largest number of clinics; Busan's Seomyeon district is convenient if Busan is already on your itinerary. Choose the clinic, not the city: check English support, the doctor's experience with your concern, and how follow-up works after you leave.

Korea is known for dermatology, and many travellers assume they have to be in Gangnam to get good care. In reality, Busan has a mature skin clinic scene of its own, centred around Seomyeon. Here is how to decide where to book.

1. What is the same in both cities

Most widely used devices and injectables are available in both cities. In Seomyeon you will find options such as Ultherapy in Seomyeon, Rejuran skin boosters and laser toning, the same categories you would compare in Seoul.

2. When Seoul makes more sense

Seoul is the practical choice if you are flying in and out of Incheon on a short trip, or if you want to combine skin treatments with other specialties. For example, if you are also considering body contouring, a liposuction specialist such as 365mc's international patient service in Seoul is easier to fit around a Seoul-based stay.

Gangnam clinics also publish a lot of English-language guidance. YAAN Skin Clinic's article on how to choose a skin clinic in Gangnam as a foreigner is a useful checklist wherever you book.

3. When Busan makes more sense

Busan works well if you are already visiting for the beaches, a cruise or business, or if you prefer a slightly slower pace. Seomyeon is a central transport hub, so it is easy to reach from Haeundae, Busan Station and Gimhae Airport. See our page for foreign patients at our Seomyeon skin clinic.

4. Comparing lifting options before you book

Lifting is one of the most common requests from international visitors. Before choosing between devices and threads, read RE:BERRY Clinic Gangnam's comparison of HIFU vs RF vs thread lifting in Korea, then compare with our thread lift guide.

5. A checklist for any clinic, in any city

  • Is a doctor (not only a coordinator) doing the consultation?
  • Is pricing explained clearly, including any add-ons?
  • Is there English, Chinese or Japanese support if you need it?
  • What aftercare instructions do you get in writing?
  • Who do you contact if you have a question after flying home?

Frequently asked questions

Are treatments cheaper in Busan than in Seoul?

Prices vary more between clinics than between cities. Ask for a written quote for the exact treatment and number of shots or vials.

Can I start treatment in Seoul and continue in Busan?

For skin boosters or laser series, this is sometimes possible. Bring your treatment record so the second clinic knows what was done.
